Board Meeting

Board Meeting

East Central Alabama Alliance for Quality Living
Board Meeting
September 3, 2003

PRESENT:

Clara Clothiaux, Sheila Eckman, Jeannie O’Donnell, Zack Sprayberry.

501(c)3:

The Board reviewed the mailing list, to determine which groups should receive the notice of the upcoming meeting.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION:

The Board discussed ECAAQL’s stance with regard to Alabama Department of Environmental Management. While it was agreed that we should encourage members to attend Environmental Management Commission hearings, etc., there was consensus that the Alliance not dedicate its efforts to reform of ADEM. Should the September 9 tax reform vote fail, it was noted that proposing the elimination of ADEM might receive a favorable hearing.

MEETING:

Sheila presented a draft of a dues notice / board election / meeting announcement, aimed at a October 2 annual meeting and election of officers. John Hoar of the Southwest Lee County Volunteer Fire Department agreed to the use of the building for the ECAAQL meeting, and agreed to have the fire truck available for children who might be present. Sheila will take digital photos of the kids and send to their parents via e-mail.

Clara and Sheila will each bring 25 cooked hot dogs and chips. Zack will bring drinks, ice and cups. Sheila will bring mustard, ketchup, napkins, etc., as well as some extra wieners and buns in case more are needed. (Microwave available.)

ELECTIONS:

Sheila spoke to Al Redding, who agreed to serve again as Exec. Vice President. Zack Sprayberry, Jeannie O’Donnell and Sheila Eckman agreed to serve another year. Sheila will contact Coach Dye to see if he will agree to serve another year. She will also contact Nick Davis, to determine his interest, and Zack will contact Ernestine Robinson and Rex Dunham.

WEBSITE:

Sheila will handle the following updates to the website, prior to the mailing for the upcoming meeting:
  • Recent minutes
  • Announcement of Upcoming Meetings
  • Addition of Gin Saw Hole Photo
  • Addition of map of the Old Bicycle Path
  • Write-up of the Old Bicycle Path History

UPDATE ON AL REDDING:

Sheila reported on a call to Al. While he is definitely frustrated with the treatment, he says he is tolerating it well. Being the gregarious person he is, he does not like the isolation that is required, due to his low tolerance.
